무너진 지혜의 나라 (옵 1:1-9)

1 이것은 오바댜가 받은 계시이다. 주 하나님이 에돔을 두고 하신 말씀이다. 주님께서 여러 민족에게 천사를 보내시면서 "너희는 일어나라. 에돔을 쳐부수러 가자!" 하신 말씀을 우리가 들었다. 1 The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Sovereign Lord says about Edom— We have heard a message from the Lord: An envoy was sent to the nations to say, “Rise, let us go against her for battle”—

2 "나는 여러 민족 가운데서 너를 가장 보잘것없이 만들겠다. 모든 사람이 너를 경멸할 것이다. 3 네가 바위 틈에 둥지를 틀고, 높은 곳에 집을 지어 놓고는, '누가 나를 땅바닥으로 끌어내릴 수 있으랴' 하고 마음 속으로 말하지만, 너의 교만이 너를 속이고 있다. 4 네가 독수리처럼 높은 곳에 보금자리를 꾸민다 하여도, 네가 별들 사이에 둥지를 튼다 하여도, 내가 너를 거기에서 끌어내리고야 말겠다. 나 주의 말이다." 5 "너에게 도둑 떼가 들거나 밤중에 강도 떼가 들이닥쳐도, 자기들에게 필요한 만큼만 빼앗아 간다. 포도를 털어가는 사람들이 들이닥쳐도, 포도송이 얼마쯤은 남겨 놓는다. 6 그런데 에서야, 너는 어찌 그처럼 샅샅이 털렸느냐? 네가 깊이 숨겨 둔 보물마저 다 빼앗기고 말았다. 7 너와 동맹을 맺은 모든 나라가 너를 나라 밖으로 쫓아내고, 너와 평화조약을 맺은 나라들이 너를 속이고 너를 정복하였다. 너와 한 밥상에서 먹던 동맹국이 너의 발 앞에 올가미를 놓았다. 너의 지혜가 어디에 있느냐? 2 “See, I will make you small among the nations; you will be utterly despised. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’ 4 Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares the Lord. 5 “If thieves came to you, if robbers in the night— oh, what a disaster awaits you!— would they not steal only as much as they wanted? If grape pickers came to you, would they not leave a few grapes? 6 But how Esau will be ransacked, his hidden treasures pillaged! 7 All your allies will force you to the border; your friends will deceive and overpower you; those who eat your bread will set a trap for you, but you will not detect it.

8 나 주가 말한다. 그 날에는 내가 에돔에서 슬기로운 사람을 다 없애고, 에서의 방방곡곡에 지혜있는 사람을 남겨 두지 않겠다. 9 데만아, 너의 용사들이 기가 꺾이고, 에서의 온 땅에 군인은 한 사람도 남지 않고 모두 다 칼에 쓰러질 것이다." 8 “In that day,” declares the Lord, “will I not destroy the wise men of Edom, those of understanding in the mountains of Esau? 9 Your warriors, Teman, will be terrified, and everyone in Esau’s mountains will be cut down in the slaughter.
